Embark on an unforgettable 3-day journey from the ancient city of Fez into the heart of the Moroccan Sahara. This meticulously planned expedition is designed to showcase the dramatic shifts in landscape, from the lush cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains to the breathtaking, wind-swept dunes of the Sahara Desert. Experience authentic Berber culture, witness spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Todra Gorges

Your adventure begins from Fes as we ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, a charming town known for its alpine-style architecture. We will then journey through the largest cedar forest in Morocco, near Azrou, where you'll have the delightful opportunity to see and feed the native Barbary macaque monkeys.

The route continues through the scenic Atlas range, passing numerous traditional Berber villages. For lunch, we will stop in Midelt, the region's "apple capital." In the afternoon, we press on, watching the landscape transform as we make our way towards the impressive Todra Gorges. We will arrive in time to witness the canyon walls glow in the light of the setting sun.

Dinner and overnight stay at a comfortable hotel nestled within the gorges.

Day 2 - Todra Gorges - Rissani - Merzouga Erg Chebbi

Following a delightful breakfast, we will embark on a leisurely walk through the magnificent Todra Gorge, appreciating its towering cliffs and serene environment. Our journey then continues towards Merzouga, traversing the picturesque Ziz Valley via Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud. A stop in Rissani will allow for lunch at a traditional restaurant, where you can savor Medfouna and enjoy a brief exploration of the city. As we depart Rissani for Merzouga, the landscape gradually transforms, signaling our approach to the captivating Sahara Desert. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will settle into a traditional Kasbah located at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. After mint tea, your experienced guide and camels will be ready to lead you into the vast sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi. Experience the unparalleled beauty of a desert sunset from atop a camel. After approximately 1 hour, you will reach our desert camp, where you will spend the night in a traditional Berber tent. Following a delicious dinner, immerse yourself in the tranquility of the desert and marvel at the incredible star-filled sky before retiring to your Berber tent for the night.

Day 3 - Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Fes

Wake early to witness a breathtaking sunrise from the majestic sand dunes, a truly unforgettable experience. After this spectacular view, we will take a camel ride back to the hotel. Following breakfast and a refreshing shower, we will begin our return journey to Fez. Our route will take us through the scenic Ziz Valley and back across the diverse landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains. We anticipate arriving in Fez in the afternoon, marking the conclusion of your enriching desert tour.
