Casablanca to Rabat Day Tour

A day trip to Rabat takes you to the most important sights and attractions of Rabat, including the Kasbah of Oudayas, the Ruins of Hassan Tower and 200 Pillars, the Necropolis of Sierra, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Medina. Chellah: or Sala Colonia is a necropolis, a complex of ancient Roman Mauritanian Tingitana and medieval ruins on the outskirts of Rabat and the oldest human settlement at the mouth of the Bou Regreg.
Hassan Tower: An unfinished mosque minaret. The tower, together with the mosque, was supposed to be the tallest minaret in the world, but work was soon halted after the death of Yaakbual Al Mansur. This Rabat day trip also includes a visit to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. It is a historic building opposite the Esplanade of Ya`akub Al Mansour. It contains the tombs of Mohammed V of Morocco and his two sons, the late King Hassan II and Prince Abdullah. The building is considered a masterpiece of modern architecture of the Alawite dynasty and has a typical green tiled roof over its white silhouette, green being the color of Islam. Quranic readers often attend and have an assigned place. Construction was completed in 1971. Hassan II was buried there after he died in 1999.
Oudayyas Kasbah: Kasbah at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river, built by the Almohads in the 12th century. The Almohads called themselves “Al Mahdia” after their leader, Al Mahdi Ben Tumurt. Originally, this Kasbah was a ribat (military defense). The Kasbah then gave the entire city its name. Kasbah Oudayas is a town within a town, itself a small town in Rabat. In 2012, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural property along with other sites in the city. Medina: The old Medina, the old city walls with its huge gates and countless handicraft shops are all worth seeing.
