Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Zagora
Your adventure begins with a departure from Marrakech. We will ascend into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, navigating the winding roads of the Tizi n'Tichka pass, which stands at an elevation of 2,260 meters. The journey leads us to the magnificent Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village is a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture and has provided a stunning backdrop for numerous films. You will have time to explore its ancient kasbahs and surrounding landscape.
We then proceed to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, for lunch near the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt. In the afternoon, our journey continues south across the Tizi N'Tnifift pass and through Ait Saoun, the ancient caravan route once used by traders from Timbuktu. We will arrive at the village of Agdz, the beginning of the lush Draa Valley, renowned for its vast palm groves. As the landscape transforms into the pre-Saharan plains, we reach the town of Zagora. Here, you will trade your vehicle for a camel and embark on a memorable trek into the sunset, arriving at your desert camp for a traditional dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Zagora Dunes - Agdz - High Atlas - Marrakech
Wake early to witness the magical spectacle of a desert sunrise painting the dunes. After a relaxed breakfast at the camp, you'll camel trek back to meet your driver. The journey to Marrakech leads through the stunning Draa Valley and Agdz. We'll pause for lunch in Ouarzazate before a scenic drive over the High Atlas Mountains, concluding your memorable desert adventure with a late afternoon drop-off at your Marrakech accommodation.
