Itinerary
Day 1 - Fez - Ifran - Medilt - Merzouga
Your adventure begins with an early departure from Fez. We ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains, making our first stop in Ifrane, a unique town built by the French in the 1930s with a chalet-style architecture. Shortly after, we will journey into the vast cedar forests of Azrou to observe the native Barbary macaques. The drive continues through breathtaking forests, past natural springs and jagged rock formations. We will pause for lunch in Midelt, a town renowned for its fossils and minerals. In the afternoon, the landscape begins its dramatic transformation towards the Sahara. After a stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Ziz Valley's immense palm oasis, we arrive in Merzouga. Here, your camels await to carry you on a memorable trek across the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun sets, casting a warm glow over the sand, you will arrive at our traditional Berber desert camp. After dinner, you will be treated to the profound silence and starry skies of the Sahara for your overnight stay.
Day 2: Merzouga - Rissani - Todra Gorge - Ouarzazate
Wake early to witness a magnificent Saharan sunrise over the dunes. Following breakfast at the camp, we depart for Ouarzazate. Our journey takes us along the legendary "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs," an ancient caravan route dotted with fortified sand castles. This region's raw beauty has been the backdrop for numerous Hollywood films. Our first major stop is the Todra Gorge, where you can take a leisurely walk between the colossal 300-meter-high canyon walls. After lunch, we continue through the Dades Valley, admiring the dramatic escarpments and vibrant landscapes. We arrive in Ouarzazate, in the late afternoon. You will have dinner and settle in for the night at a comfortable local hotel.
Day 3: Ouarzazate - Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech
After breakfast, we will explore the highlights of Ouarzazate, including the historic Kasbah of Taourirt and the world-renowned Atlas Film Studios, Africa's largest film studio. We then make a short journey to the oasis of Fint before heading to the tour's crown jewel: the Ksar of Aït Benhaddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of Morocco's most spectacular fortified villages and has served as the filming location for blockbusters like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. After exploring the ksar and enjoying lunch, we begin our final leg of the journey. The route takes us up and over the High Atlas Mountains via the stunning Tizi n'Tichka pass, which winds its way from the plains up to an altitude of 2,260 meters. The descent offers continuously changing landscapes and breathtaking views before we arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech in the afternoon, where your unforgettable tour concludes.
