Itinerary
Day 1 - Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Gorges
Your desert odyssey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech. We embark on a scenic drive towards the majestic High Atlas Mountains, traversing the renowned Tizi-n-Tichka pass. This high mountain road, reaching an elevation of 2260 meters, offers continuous changes in landscape and color, passing through charming small villages and featuring picturesque waterfalls. We will pause at the pass to savor some mint tea and admire the breathtaking scenery before continuing to the ancient Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Arriving in time for lunch, you will have the opportunity to explore this famous UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated as the backdrop for iconic films such as "Gladiator" and "Lawrence of Arabia." Following our visit, we journey through Ouarzazate, traverse the verdant Valley of Roses and the stunning Dades Valley. Our day concludes as we reach the dramatic Dades Gorge, where you'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional hotel.
Day 2 - Dades Gorge - Ziz Valley - Merzouga
After a delightful breakfast, you'll have the chance to take a short, invigorating walk through the Dades Gorges, appreciating its unique rock formations. We then continue our drive along the legendary "Road of 1000 Kasbahs," passing through the authentic village of Tinghir and the historic Jewish Kasbah. Our route takes us to the magnificent Todra Gorges, where we will stop for lunch. Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the gorges with a leisurely walk before we embark on the road to Merzouga , passing through Erfoud and Rissani. Reaching Merzouga before sunset. Upon arrival, we will leave our vehicle at a hotel and prepare for an unforgettable camel trek into the majestic Erg Chebbi Dunes. This incredible experience culminates in a night spent in a traditional Berber tent, where you'll enjoy a delicious dinner accompanied by the captivating rhythms of Berber and Touareg drums and songs, all beneath a sky filled with stars. The following morning, your camel guide will wake you in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise. Afterward, we will return by camel to the hotel following your breakfast at the camp.
Day 3 - Merzouga - Rissani - Ouarzazate
Upon returning to Merzouga, we'll continue our exploration of the desert's surroundings. Our journey takes us to the Khamlia village, where you will experience their traditional Gnawa music. Then, we will visit the enchanting Dayt Srij Lake, a popular spot for birdwatching, known for its vibrant seasonal pink flamingos. Next, we delve into Rissani, the former historical capital of Morocco and renowned for its past as a caravan departure point. Lunch will be with a local family, where you'll savor authentic Medfouna. Our return journey to Ouarzazate takes a different route, passing through the village of Nkob and the Draa Valley. We'll make a stop in Agdz for tea and a brief visit before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you will spend the night in a beautiful riad, complete with a refreshing pool. Dinner will be served on the terrace, offering a delightful evening.
Day 4 - Ouarzazate - High Atlas - Marrakech
After breakfast, we will explore the fascinating town of Ouarzazate, starting with a visit to the historic Kasbah of Taourirt. We will also discover the renowned Atlas movie studios, recognized as the largest and most famous in Africa. Our journey leads us to the serene Fint Oasis, a tranquil paradise nestled near Ouarzazate. From here, we begin our return to Marrakech, traveling along the Tizi-n-Tichka road. We stop for lunch in a charming small village along the way, allowing you to savor local flavors. Anticipate arriving back in Marrakech in the late afternoon marking the end of your tour.
