Itinerary
Day 1 - Marrakech - Kasbah Ait Benhaddou - Dades Gorge
Your unforgettable journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech. We set off towards the majestic High Atlas Mountains, traversing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, which offers breathtaking panoramic views from an altitude of 2260 meters. Along this scenic route, you'll witness charming small villages and cascading waterfalls, with the landscapes shifting. A stop at the pass allows for mint tea and further appreciation of the scenery. Your next destination wil be the iconic Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a famed backdrop for numerous films, including "Gladiator" and "Lawrence of Arabia." We arrive in time for lunch and explore this historic fortified village. Subsequently, we drive through Ouarzazate, known for its Atlas movies studies, before entering the verdant Valley of Roses. Our day concludes in the stunning Dades Gorge, where you'll check into a traditional and inviting hotel for dinner and an overnight stay amidst the captivating rock formations.
Day 2 - Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Merzouga
After a delicious breakfast, you'll have the opportunity to take a leisurely walk through the Dades Gorges, admiring its unique geological features. Our journey then continues along the "Road of 1000 Kasbahs," passing through the traditional village of Tinghir and the historic Jewish Kasbah. We will reach the magnificent Todra Gorges in time for lunch. Here, you can enjoy a scenic walk through the towering canyons before we continue our drive towards the Merzouga desert, via Erfoud. Upon arrival in Rissani, we will transition to a 4x4 vehicle for the final leg to Merzouga, ensuring we reach our destination before sunset. Leaving our vehicle at a comfortable hotel, we will embark on an incredible and unforgettable camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky with fiery hues, you'll arrive at our traditional Berber tent camp. Enjoy a delightful dinner accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of Berber and Touareg drums and songs, all under a canopy of stars. Your overnight stay will be in a comfortable Berber tent.
Day 3 - Merzouga - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi
Awaken to the tranquil desert morning. After breakfast, you can relax by the hotel swimming pool. Later, we will embark on an approximately 3.5-hour 4x4 excursion, exploring the diverse facets of the desert, from its mesmerizing dunes to ancient black volcanic rocks, small villages, and seasonal oases. We'll make a special stop in Khamlia village to listen to the soulful Saharan Gnawa music. You'll also have the unique opportunity to visit a local Berber family in their traditional tent, where you'll be welcomed with refreshing mint tea. Our route will follow parts of the legendary Paris-Dakar Rallye track, leading us to a cave where you can witness how locals extract fossils from the earth. In the afternoon, we will return to our Merzouga hotel to relax by the pool and enjoy dinner with local music. For those seeking an extraordinary experience, a walk through the dunes offers the chance to embrace the profound silence and marvel at the celestial display.
Day 4 - Merzouga - Rissani - Midelt - Fez
Rise early to witness a breathtaking sunrise from atop the 300-meter high dunes. After this magnificent morning view, we will return by camel to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Our journey then commences back towards Fez. We will pass through Rissani, the historical first capital of the Alaouite dynasty, and continue our scenic drive through the Ziz Valley. A stop for lunch will be made in Midelt nestled amidst the mountains. The road continues through the picturesque Middle Atlas Mountains and the renowned Cedar Forest, offering panoramic views perfect for capturing memorable photographs on our way back, arriving in Fez in the afternoon, concluding your tour.
